Research and Development
Healthscope Advanced Pathology has a strong research and development commitment. Our current research program is focussed on the clinical utility of pharmacogenomics, an area of great excitement for the improvement individualised drug selection and dosing.
Mental Health project
As part of our ongoing research program, Healthscope Advanced Pathology is currently taking part in an international collaborative trial based at the University of Melbourne. The trial aims to investigate how the genetic makeup of a patient with clinical depression influences their response to anti-depressant medication. This trial is one of the largest of its kind, and when completed should see improved guidelines for medicating patients with clinical depression.
Cancer Diagnosis
In 2009, Healthscope, in conjunction with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Circadian Technologies, is validating a new diagnostic to help identify cancers of unknown origin.
